Dr James Barry fought when he thought something

                                                was wrong.

In Cape Town, people with leprosy were banished

to Robben Island. The lepers were put on the

island because people believed they could catch the

                                disease from them very easily.

Dirty houses and bad food made the lepers much

sicker. Dr James Barry asked the leaders in Cape

Town for cleaner living conditions and healthier

food for the sick people on Robben Island.
